Moving on to Guides.

When a Brownie reaches 10 years old they are encouraged to continue their Guiding journey and move onto Guides. Brownies have to be 10 years old to attend Guides.

1st Cowbridge Guides meet on a Thursday at Cowbridge Scout Hut and 1st Colwinston Guides meet on a Wednesday at Colwinston Village Hall.

If your child is turning 10 years old soon (as in the next few weeks/or in September) and wishes to visit either of these units for a taster session then please let me know.

I can contact the Guide Leaders to let them know and arrange a visit.

If your  child is turning 10 (in September) and has decided to not continue in the Guiding movement please let me know before the end of this term. We would like to give them a special mention in our achievements celebration.

Further information is available via a link on the right hand side of this blog page that shows the same picture as above, just click on the image to the right.

Many thanks,

Brown Owl.

What do we need? Emergency 999

Tonight we completed the final two elements to our First Aid skills Builders.

We practised ringing the emergency services to get help when we find someone ill or injured.

We also thought about what our body needs and the importance of mental health.
We thought about basic needs such as food, water and sleep. The need to feel safe at school and home. The need for friends, confidence and doing our best.

We built a needs tower and prioritised our needs.

We also worked out the new sixes this evening and made some new sixers and seconders.

New six badges will be given out in our achievements ceremony at the end of the month.

Y Pant Activity Day July 6th 2019.
The girls who are coming along on Saturday have been given a consent and emergency contact form. Please bring this along completed, on the morning of the activity day. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT I HAVE THESE FORMS ON THE DAY.

We are meeting at 9:45am outside the main reception area of the school- the main building.
Please ensure that the Brownies wear sun cream, a hat and brownie uniform. If the weather is hot they can wear shorts. Please ensure that they are wearing trainers as they will be playing sport all day.
Packed lunch is required and drinks. Although there will be plenty of fluids provided throughout the day.  Please collect your children at 4pm.
It should be great fun and I know the girls are looking forward to it.

I’ll post some photos of the event.

Thanks to those of you who have purchased a Brownie badge book and sash already. The Brownies signed off all the parts of the badges they’ve completed so far tonight. It really will give them a sense of what we are doing and the reasons why we are doing it. They were very pleased with their progress.

Links are below if you wish to purchase them.

Thanks,

Brown Owl.
